FTA Extends Deadline For Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP)

04/23/2020

The Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP) regulation requires transit agencies to incorporate Safety Management System (SMS) policies and procedures as they develop safety plans to manage safety risks. The regulation set July 20, 2020 as the deadline for transit agencies to certify that they have established a compliant agency safety plan. However, this FTA notice alerts transit agencies that they will have until December 31, 2020 to comply with the regulation.

FTA has also published an FAQ for the public on this relief from the PTASP deadline. FTA is regularly publishing new guidance on the COVID-19 FAQs page based on feedback from stakeholders. Grantees may visit FTA’s Coronavirus page for the most up-to-date guidance from FTA. If grantees have questions about the Notice or the PTASP regulation, please contact the PTASP TAC at PTASP-TAC@dot.gov or 1-877-827-7243. For COVID-19 matters, please contact FTAResponse@dot.gov.
